Early Vision
L.A. Purcell carved his legacy by making his products affordable to all and sundry. He felt obligated to the labourer and less fortunate Grenadian. He wanted them to have access to the commodities which enhances one’s quality of life…a notion we take for granted today. His dream and life-long pursuit was for all Grenadian families to own a home. Hence, he established a credit facility (the first of its kind in Grenada), now known as the Hire Purchase System, tailored for the working-class. L.A. coined the phrase: “cash if you have it; credit if you want it.” His sojourn in the political area was on the condition of being a voice for the poor and vulnerable.

Founder
Leonard Anthony Purcell
The firm L.A. Purcell was founded by Leonard Anthony Purcell, aka “L.A” in 1938. The hardships and peculiar challenges he overcame are testament of his stick-to-itiveness and resolve. Under his stewardship what began as a work-from-home bakery, grew to the long-standing, elaborate establishment we know today. Vision and humility were the hallmarks of this remarkable businessman. Coming from a family of a diminutive means, L.A. Purcell, in spite of his success, always showed empathy for the plight of the poor and working-class Grenadian.
